5th ANNUAL WALMART FIRST TEE OPEN

Congratulations Andrew Garcia and Brett Silvernail for proudly representing the First Tee of South Los Angeles (FTSLA), Saticoy Site, WSGA, which are both members of the Pro Duffers West Golf Club, and Southern California junior golfers!

 It was certainly no easy task to compete so admirably on such a grand stage, playing along side tour professionals in this July’s tournament. Andrew Garcia placed third in the junior competition and won a trophy with a score of 16 under par Brett Silvernail finished in seventh place and Del Monte golf courses on Friday and Saturday. The final round at Pebble Beach GC on Sunday was cut down to the low 22 juniors, top ten amateur teams and the Pros. Both Andrew and Brett made the cut and played on Sunday!

Andrew and Brett were able to play practice/competition rounds with Gene Jones, Phil Blackmar, John Harris, Gil Morgan, Mark Wiebe, Andy Bean and Fulton Allem. They also practiced along side Curtis Strange, Tom Kite, Tom Watson, Nick Price, Craig Stadler and took pictures with Hale Irwin and Allen Doyle.

The formats for the event were, low pro for the three days is the winner, best ball between the junior and their pro partner and low amateur team – three sets of winners. Andrew played all three days with Gene Jones a relatively unknown but solid pro from North Carolina (Played on PGA and has won almost $600K this year on the Champions Tour). Brett Silvernail played with Phil Blackmar who led after Saturdays round putting Brett in the final group on Sunday.
